Saturn in Leo

On Saturday, July 16, 2005 Saturn enters Leo until September 2, 2007. Those with planets in the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Aquarius, and Scorpio will feel its influence most strongly as it aspects those planets. When Saturn touches a point in a natal chart, it demands a restructuring and redefinition of that planets expression - one that honors responsibility and integrity. Wherever we have been remiss, the Taskmaster gets our attention. Wherever we have fears, Saturn requires that we build confidence. Wherever we have no experience or comfort, Saturn requires us to build a structure from the bottom up. Wherever we have worked hard with diligence and responsibility, Saturn gives us our due. Saturn in Leo could bring some lessons regarding any blocked abilities to experience love, appreciation, and joyful self-expression in such a way that responsibility for happiness and creativity is taken on. Saturn gives us discipline and focus for honing creative artistry. We might find that lessons regarding guilt about amusement are on tap, or we might find more enjoyment through meaningful responsibilities such as rearing children and taking leadership roles. One of the highest expressions of Leo energy is to be a leader that brings out the best in others. Saturn will assist in those efforts.

Responsibility will be a key theme in leadership roles, both personally and in the news. Any individual who has neglected or abused the role of leader will likely get some sort of reality check on such. If a false sense of pride or self-importance has masked irresponsible actions or has functioned as a defense mechanism, integrity will be ultimately demanded. Likewise, any Leo propensities to play cute, child-like roles in order to avoid responsibility will be called to task as well. We cannot rest upon our laurels. However, Leo rules the heart center, vitality, humor, and generosity of spirit. Saturn, which rules time and structure, may also have a message for us - a message that life is short and that we need to live each day with humor, with appreciation of ourselves and others, and with a very big heart so that we can love ourselves as much as we love others.
